The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 2 successfully conducted a regional orientation on various tourism projects on March 4, 2025, at Go Hotels Plus, Tuguegarao City. The event served as a vital platform for local government units (LGUs) and stakeholders to align their efforts, enhance collaboration, and drive impactful tourism initiatives across the region.

The orientation featured esteemed resource speakers from key tourism agencies. Assistant Regional Director Lelia Blancaflor also provided an overview of the Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP), emphasizing its role in improving accessibility to key destinations. Meanwhile, Engineer Kristian David Tomaneng from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 2 shared updates on the status of TRIP projects in the region. Additionally, Tourism Operations Officer Kristine Andres-Wandagan presented key updates on the accreditation of tourism enterprises.

In his keynote message, Regional Director Troy Alexander Miano emphasized the crucial role of LGUs in driving tourism development, highlighting that these initiatives are part of the tourism transformation agenda under the leadership of Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco. He reiterated that the orientation serves as a strategic platform to harmonize efforts, strengthen partnerships, and sustain the momentum of tourism growth in Cagayan Valley, in line with the national government’s vision of making tourism a driver of economic and community development.

A total of 175 participants, comprising Provincial, City, and Municipal Tourism Officers, as well as Planning and Development Officers, attended the event. Their active participation reaffirmed the collective commitment to fostering a resilient and thriving tourism industry in Region 2.
